Martin Fourcade Nordic Festival 2023

It is now an unmissable event in early September. The Martin Fourcade Nordic Festival, which brings together the cream of international biathletes, returns from September 02 to 04, 2022. An event not to be missed in Haute-Savoie, on the shores of Lake Annecy.

The MFNF, a meeting place for great athletes

The third edition of the Martin Fourcade Nordic Festival will kick off on September 2nd on the Pâquier. Throughout the weekend, biathlon competitions will take place. A rare opportunity to see biathletes at international level in Annecy and to rub shoulders with them. This popular Nordic festival will welcome Marte Olsbu, Julia Simon and Dorothea Wierer among the women. On the men's side, you will have the opportunity to see Martin Fourcade, Quentin Fillon-Maillet, Tero Seppälä or Fabien Claude.

And as skiing is a big family, champions of other disciplines will also be present. Who knows, maybe you will see Tessa Worley or Perrine Laffont ?

The program of the MFNF

The Martin Fourcade Festival takes place over 3 days. On Friday, the festivities will begin on the Pâquier with the Ekosport village. Accessible from 12 noon to 11 pm, it will have 60 exhibitors' tents and 5 foodtrucks and refreshment stands. From 6 pm, the grandstand will be open to people who have reserved their ticket.

The first part of the event will take place at 6:30 p.m., followed by the official presentation of the athletes at 8:00 p.m. and the Cali concert at 8:30 p.m.

The competitions on Saturday, September 03

On Saturday, several races will take place:

  • The women biathlon race, at 2:30 pm.
  • The men's biathlon race, at 3:25 pm.
  • The women's cross-country ski race, at 4:25 pm.
  • The men's cross-country ski race, at 5:05 pm.

For the biathlon, the courses are approximately 10 kilometers long. The 12 best biathletes in the world, women and men, will compete in a 4-shot Mass Start format. As for cross-country skiing, it will be an elimination Mass Start. At the start of each race, 16 athletes. During the first 5 rounds, the last one will be eliminated.

The 11 remaining cross-country skiers will compete in the final round to win the competition. The village will be open from 9 am to 8 pm.

The course of Sunday 04 September

On Sunday, two races will follow one another. The first race will focus on children, between 10 am and 12 pm. This biathlon cross-country event is marked by obstacles and has a 10-meter shooting range.

The young participants will have the objective of completing the course as quickly as possible. Then, from 1 to 4 pm, the Biathlon Running will take place. This race, which also takes the form of an obstacle course, is carried out by teams of 4 to 6 people. The goal here is to complete as many laps as possible, with a passage to the shooting range on each lap.

The village will be open between 8 am and 6 pm.

The Ekosport village, the nerve center of the Martin Fourcade Festival

On the Pâquier, it will be possible to access the Ekosport village. An ideal place to live new experiences, since biathlon initiations will be offered there. No need to go to Grand-Bornand or Semnoz to try shooting.

You will also be able to try the Martin Fourcade challenge in virtual reality or take advantage of autograph sessions. Competitions and product presentations will also be available on site.

Who are the exhibitors of the village ?

Among the 60 exhibitor tents, some names will not be unknown to you. Leki, Julbo, Salomon or Ekosport, Bollé and Fischer will allow you to start investing in new ski equipment for the winter. You will also find Courchevel-Méribel 2023, the department of Haute-Savoie and the City of Annecy.

It will be possible to find out about the next major events of the winter, such as the biathlon and alpine skiing world cups. This is a good reason for the most enthusiastic to book their stay in order not to miss these international events.

Restrictions near the event

Major event rhymes with traffic restrictions. The MFNF is the proof. In order to ensure the smooth running of the events and the safety of the spectators, certain streets and avenues will be closed to cars on Saturday, September 3rd from 11:30 am to 8 pm:

  • Avenue d'Albigny, between Avenue de France and Rue Louis Revon.
  • The streets André Theuriet and Saint-Bernard de Menthon, between avenue François Favre and avenue d'Albigny.
  • Dupanloup street, between Monseigneur Rendu street and Albigny avenue.

The bicycle path will be neutralized from the Prefecture to André Theuriet street during the entire event.

Parking restrictions

Parking is not forgotten, as some areas will be off limits:

  • The public parking of the Impérial, from September 1st at 8 am to September 4th at 10 pm.
  • The municipal employees' parking lot, behind the Town Hall, from Friday 5 p.m. to Sunday 8 p.m.

From Friday 02 at 8 pm to Saturday 03 September at 8 pm, it will not be possible to park on certain parts of the boulevard Saint-Bernard de Menthon and the streets Dupanloup and André Theuriet.
